Regulations and Risks

All too often, environmental policy is driven by mistaken perceptions of risk, which result in regulations that are based on fear rather than sound science. Such regulations retard environmental improvement and can cause greater harm to persons and the economy than they purport to solve. NCPA scholars believe that where regulations are warranted, they should be based on real health risks and that the regulations produce more good than harm.
